Advertise a Business to Build Your Network!

Knowing how to advertise a business is one of the biggest hurdles for most new businesses to overcome at startup. Advertising is the key to business success in any business owner's eyes, but if they aren't advertising for the right reasons, they are losing a lot of money.

This isn't about buying traffic, visitors, clicks, or hits! Those methods don't work and are a waste of precious money - though those are all terms of marketing. But if you pay to advertise your business, you want to direct all of your advertising efforts toward building your biggest asset - your database or network of potential customers.

When you advertise your business, do not think of it as trying to find the customers to buy your products, it's about helping the customers find your products so they can make a smart buying decision!

The first problem with most company websites on the world wide web is the lack of search engine optimization for top search engine placement. A lot of companies out there started with a name and built their website around that company name. Unfortunately, when search engines evolved, good company websites were lost in the shuffle because they lacked good keywords and content that fit their niche - mainly because their business name doesn't fit their niche.

Face the truth. If someone does not know your company's name, how are they going to find you? If your website is not hitting the top twenty of a search engine where people are actually searching - and they are not searching for your business name, people are probably not going to find your website online.


Selling Does Not Sell Your Product or Service! Pre-Selling Sells!


The second problem when you advertise a business is using a "selling" sales pitch when presenting an offer to your potential customers. This immediately puts a potential buyer on the defensive and most likely kills the sale, especially if they are only looking.

Instead of selling your product or service, "Pre-sell" your product or service with benefits. Your should advertise your business by avoiding a sales pitch. Don't tell the customers to buy your product or service; tell them why they will love your product or service so they will want to buy it. If your potential customers are in your niche, they are already looking to buy something regarding that niche. Tell them why your product or service is better.
