Types of Advertising to Build Your Network!
There are several types of advertising that are designed to get visitors to your store or website. Each type has its advantages and disadvantages. The key to business success is to build a strong network of people who are interested in your business's area of interest. You do this by finding new people to join your network on a continuous basis. This is difficult to do through self-referrals, so you have to have other avenues in place to drive people to your sources of network information capture. There are some shocking reasons why most advertising methods fail to give you the desired marketing results that people don't think about when they are actively pursuing their marketing efforts. There are also some astounding types of advertising that you must use to get the most subscribers to your network.
Below are some common advertising methods used for selling a product or service online and off line that and my recommendations whether to use them or not. 1. Click for Hit or Traffic Exchange Programs! Not Recommended Online Only These types of advertising is not targeted to a specific market. And besides, who are you really advertising to on these types of programs anyway? Other advertisers! Regular non-business type people looking for products and services don't generally sign up for these programs to find products. Other advertisers sign up to advertise their products or services and may get interested by your ad, but most of your efforts will be wasted on over 99 percent of the wrong people. This is a serious waste of your time! Don't waste your time with these types of advertising that totally skip trying to target a specific market.
2. Classified Advertisements, Web Directories, and Bulletin Boards!Recommended Online and Off Line How much room do you really have for interesting people into contacting you using these sources? About four lines or less, no more than 70 characters per line. It's difficult enough to try to squeeze in your primary product or service using these advertisements let alone tell people how they will benefit from them. There are some advantages for these types of advertising. They can be highly targeted if used properly. You need to place these ads in relevant stores or on websites that relate directly to your niche. They are also very inexpensive and sometimes free. Your advertisement will usually run for a month or more. Even though they are not as effective at bringing in the customers as some types of advertising, do use these as they do send random traffic to your website which can give you signups to your network.
3. Guaranteed Visitors, Targeted Traffic, Direct Mailing List and Guaranteed Clicks! Not Recommended Online and Off Line Don't waste your time or money researching these types of programs because they literally DO NOT WORK! These are very costly and usually deliver "hits" to your website, but is your site actually being viewed by a person? It is difficult to tell unless you are making some sales from these visitors, which rarely occurs. Generally, your website link is displayed as a pop up or pop under on a dead website and is blocked by popup blockers, or the unique hits are generated by amazing robots that could care less about what you are selling. It's too easy for people to cheat this and their is no way of knowing that you've been cheated except when you don't get one person to sign up to your network. The ones that do actually do display your site generally do not target your specific market and only display your sales page. With Direct mail lists, at least, give you actual physical addresses and phone numbers (sometimes email addresses) that you can send your advertisements to, but once again, how can you be for certain that the person even wants those types of advertising materials from you. You don't! Please let me know if you have had great results using these methods because I have not found one yet that has given me a free sign up, let alone a sale for any of the niche areas I've pursued. Otherwise, do not use these as they are just a waste of money.
4. Link Exchanges, Site Submissions, and Reciprocal Links!Mixed Recommendation Online Only Website submission "robots" are a definite no. These types of advertising are a dime a dozen and are just like classified ads, but absolutely not targeted at all. They also only last a second or two on a website, then vanish as other ads are flooding onto the page. Now link exchanges and reciprocal links are recommended types of advertising, but only if they are relevant to your website. They not only provide an avenue for search engine spiders to find your website and actually get your website indexed more often, but the visitors to that website may click on the link and visit your website. Used effectively on websites that are relevant to yours, they can also provide better weight from the search engines. Reciprocal links aren't as good because you have to link back to the site your link is in. These are only good if the content on the other website you are linking back and forth from is relevant to your own website. Otherwise, do not do it as it can cause your website ranking to go down by linking to unrelated content. If you do link with other websites, I recommend using text links above other forms of advertising since the links are more Search Engine friendly as far as relevancy is concerned.
5. Search Engine Traffic!Highly Recommended Online Search engine marketing is great if your website is properly developed and optimized for the search engines. They help people who want to find your website find it. In order to reap the benefits of the search engines takes knowledge and skill, or a lot of money. Learning this valuable skill is worth every penny because you can use it over and over again. Paying someone to build your website for you only costs you once (that is, every time you want it optimized, changed, or added to). Oh, I forgot to mention, this is the best people you will have coming to your website because they are already looking for the information you have. And they only cost you your hosting, website registration, and site building system. You website will get people to go to your page on impulse if your pages are ranked within the top twenty of the search engines. Once they visit your site, it's up to your content and the visitor's wants and needs that will keep them there long enough to sign up to your network. You must add a powerful SEO optimized website to your marketing plan right away. Don't let the "SEO" part fool you! It has all of the knowledge, skills, tools, platform, and a whole lot more you need to create a powerful niche website fully optimized to magnetically attract thousands of new customers every month.
6. Pay Per Click, Pay Per Hit Advertising!Mixed Recommendation Online To go along with search engines, there are also types of advertising that are called paid per click ads you can use to get highly targeted people to your website. Adwords from Google.com is one of the best. These pay for each click types of advertising provide targeted traffic to your website, but the price per click varies greatly depending on the keyword worth. Some keywords may cost you a penny, others several dollars. I do recommend Pay Per Click types of advertising, but ONLY if you have already made some money from your other types of advertising. I DO NOT, however, recommend to purchase pay per "HIT" advertising as this doesn't guarantee that a person will click through to your site. It simply means how many times your advertisement is viewed or displayed. Pretty much the same concept though, but no guarantee that your advertisement is being viewed by people looking for your niche.
7. Banner Exchanges and Banner Ads!Mixed Recommendation Online Only Search engine robots frown upon banner farms and banner exchanges. They are usually not advertising to the correct market and people that see them immediately know you are trying to sell something. However, properly targeted and displayed banners can be very beneficial, but I wouldn't waste any money with banner exchanges as they are randomly placed on all of the sites on their network so they are not targeted to a specific market. They also don't count as a link back to your site if the hosting site is spidered by the search engines. A directly placed banner on someone's site is spidered and checked for relevancy. If you are going to advertise using banners, purchase a placement on a relevant website that directly relates to your website's information and what products and services your are trying to sell.
8. Free For All Links! Not Recommended Online Only Do not ever use these as they are a waste of web space and time on your part. They will actually lower your overall Alexa ranking and link popularity if you own your own website and will turn search engines away from your website. Most of the time when you submit your link (and remember, it's very difficult getting your word across with a simple link) to an FFA, it's gone within about ten minutes anyway. It's buried so fast that no one will ever find your site. No one is looking there to find you products or services anyway. Those are mostly for advertisers desperately trying to market their websites, not knowing what they are doing.
9. Press Releases!Recommended Online or Offline Wait, here is another great tool to advertise your niche to your market. If, that is, you can write a press release more than 500 characters in the proper format. Content, as defined by search engine robots is any text greater than 500 characters that contains keywords that relate directly to your product or service or the information you are trying to put across to your readers. You can write all of the content you want, but if you fail to use the right amount of keywords or place them in the wrong spots throughout your content, search engines won't find them or they will not index it correctly in their databases. However, press releases are a great way to get your word out to the world and toward your target market about new product or service releases or a business launch.
10. Email AdvertisingMixed Recommendation Online Only Using email is a lot easier than most other forms of advertising, but then you are stuck with trying to get your emails read by people who want your product or service. There are many types of advertising via email. Safe Lists are good to protect you from SPAM, but they are just like click for hit exchanges in that they are advertising to other advertisers. Bulk email to mass email addresses you purchase is out of the question unless you have a personal relationship with the list you are emailing to (ie. your database). Personal emails to your friends and family are generally good, but after a while they may get sick of your advertisement badgering. When pursuing the email route, it is best to network with other businesses within your niche that have a relationship with their database and who are willing to blast a personally recommending email to that database on your behalf. This can foster great results and allow you to expand your own database rather quickly. Be sure to return the favor.
These were just some of the many types of advertising available to you to help you build your networks. There are so many more out there that I can't really list them all here. These are all methods I have personally tried or currently use in my marketing plan. Use four types of advertising in your marketing plan that work best for your niche and stick with them. You can occasionally try new ones, but direct most of your efforts and money on what works. And remember, don't pay for advertising until you make money from your advertising.
