Who Do You Know? It's What Networking is All About!
Who do you know is the most important question you need to ask yourself when building your networking list. Whether it is in your personal life, financial life, or in business, your network is the most important asset to building wealth. You really do know a lot of people if you really sit down and think about it. In fact, statistically proven, you know at least 250 people in your direct network. The first thing you need to do to determine who you really know is to write down everyone you stay in pretty close contact with on a regular basis. These are the ones that are in your "Close Network" or your "A" list of your Keep In Touch Program. These are the people that are most responsive to you and you know how to get in contact with easily. These are the people who you are comfortable talking about anything to and the people you aren't afraid to ask for their help. Some people have a lot of people in their networks; some do not. Knowing people now really does not matter as much as who you are going to know later. But, you have to start somewhere, so you start with the people who you know now. Information on who do you know that you want to write down is their full name, address, phone number, email address, and some notes about their likes, dislikes, occupation, skills, hobbies, and various other things to quickly recognize their value to you later. In the Keep In Touch Program, you will find a very helpful spreadsheet called "Keep In Touch". I encourage you to download this tool to help you establish your network. Your "A" List is probably your most important part of your network, but there are a lot more people in your network than those few people. Who do you know continues with the next list that you want to concentrate on. These are the people you don't contact as frequently and are known as your "Passive Network" or "B" list. Continue by writing down all of the names and subsequent information about all of the people you know but do not know all that well. These are the people you know from school, work, stores, shops, friends of friends, email buddies, and everyone else you can think of that you've met or talked to but don't regularly interface with. Don't leave people like doctors, business people, and lawyers off your list. These are the people who can help you out the most with their skills and abilities. Remember, you are listing everyone you know in one way or another. Write down all of their contact information and other information. If you do not know their contact information but know how to contact them, get in contact with them and get their contact information. It is very important to get their contact information so you can communicate with them regularly and keep in touch with them to build a lasting relationship. Of the people you know that you do not have contact information for or do not know how to get a hold of them, place them on your "Cold Network" or "C" list. You must make a good attempt at contacting these individuals in order to make your network larger and more powerful. One way of doing this is connecting through social networking or the white pages on or off line. Who do you know may not even people you know right now, they may be people you want to know and have as part of your network in the future as part of your wealth building plan. These are your "D" List contacts. They are people who possess valuable information, knowledge, skills, and abilities that you want access to but you have never met them or contacted them in any way. These are the people you want to make contact with but don't know how yet. You should make an effort every day to populate your networking list in order to achieve the power of networking in life or business. Who do you know doesn't stop there. Once your network is established, you need to find a way to continually build your network. Learn how to capture information from people on a daily basis to build your network quickly.
